About

Beyond the Surface is the visual branding agency for companies using PowerPoint to communicate with their audience. Why this focus?

We had enough of seeing businesses sabotage themselves with their visual documents!

We’ve worked with all kinds of companies and third-sector organisations across different industries. They all have one thing in common, though: they create PowerPoint decks and Word documents to communicate with their audience.

Just like you, right?

That’s why we bet you have one of these problems:

You’re not clear on your visual brand identity

Unfortunately, there isn’t a real strategy behind the documents you create for your audience.

In fact, you’re just using premade templates and themes.

So, your PowerPoint decks and Word documents don’t represent your brand

Your visual identity wasn’t planned with PowerPoint in mind

Maybe you did pay an agency but they didn’t specialise in this software.

And while they created a fabulous website or brand for you, PowerPoint and Word were just an afterthought.

So, whenever you try to use your logo and visual assets on those documents, they always look off

Either way, the final result is the same: the documents you send to your audience don’t look professional or consistent—and they fail to make an impact.

We’ve seen this a lot!

So, we decided to go Beyond the Surface (and call ourselves that, too)

If you use PowerPoint for most of your communications, it shouldn’t be some kind of add-on or compromise: your visual branding should be planned around it!

That’s why our visual branding agency specialises in PowerPoint-first design: so that you can amplify your branding and message through those visual documents—no matter who’s editing them.

“The presentation Francesca created was a real transformation from the old one. Our team is really pleased with it and are proud to present it.

Francesca is supportive, understanding when deadlines had to move and she clearly loves what she does, a pleasure to work with. The process was clear and the results are fantastic, everyone in the team is really pleased with what she created for us. We will definitely work with her again for future PowerPoint design projects.”

Clarity and support

We won’t disappear as soon as we’ve delivered your new visual branding and templates! We offer guidelines, aftercare, and support to make sure you’re clear on how to get the most out of your documents

“I’d recommend anyone with similar challenges to have a chat with Francesca, she’s very thorough and takes the time to understand how the templates will be used across the organisation. Forseeing the various use cases makes it all the easier to roll out the templates once they are ready, as needs are met.”

Say “buongiorno” to Francesca, founder of our visual branding agency

Originally from Italy (but don’t worry: she won’t judge you if you put pineapple on pizza), Francesca Romano has +10 years of experience in design.

She completed an MA Book Design from the University of Reading—and she now teaches one of its courses.

After working for a bustling creative studio and companies like the Oxford University Press, she started her own visual branding agency, specialising in PowerPoint-first design.

She relies on a trusted network of collaborators and experts in different niches. That way, at Beyond the Surface, we get to tackle even the biggest projects (without you having to deal with more than one point of contact).

“Years ago, I thought I’d become a comic book artist. I’m still into themas well as anime, sci-fi films, and all sorts of nerdy stuff. But turns out, my zone of genius is actually putting the WOW into the software most designers see as boring.”
